HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital to implement Epic EHR: 3 notes

Hospital Sisters Health System is implementing an Epic EHR at two Chippewa Falls, Wis.-based HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital locations as part of HSHS' four-year, $112 million EHR transition, Metro East Sun reports.

Three notes:

1. HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital in Breese, Ill., and Highland, Ill., will go live on an Epic EHR June 8.

2. HSHS' Epic implementation is part of the Springfield, Ill.-based health system's initiative to transition all HSHS hospitals and their affiliated partners, including HSHS Medical Group, to the Epic system.

"By using the same EHR, clinicians will have access to more complete and accurate information about the care of their patients at either of our hospitals or at any of our clinics," St. Joseph's Hospitals IT service manager Whitney Mendoza told Metro East Sun.

3. With the new EHR, patients at HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital will be able to use their mobile phones or the internet to access Epic's MyChart patient portal. The portal allows users to view their medical records, manage appointments and message their providers, among other capabilities.
