Google might be building an EHR: 4 notes

Google may be building its own EHR and analytics system, according to a July 2017 patent application that was published by the U.S. Patent Office Jan. 31, the Politico Morning eHealth newsletter reports.

Google's 40-page patent application describes a "system and method for predicting and summarizing medical events from electronic health records."

Four notes:

1. The patent application listed 21 Google employees as its inventors, including the head of and senior research fellow Jeffrey Dean, PhD.

3. The application notes the system is designed to help clinicians sift through data, provide forward-looking clinical insights and details as to how those predictions were made, according to Politico.

4. Google declined to comment on Politico's report.
