Google Cloud adds EHR voice assistant: 4 things to know

Jackie Drees -

Suki, an artificial intelligence, voice-enabled digital assistant for physicians, will serve as a clinical digital assistant partner to Google Cloud.

Four things to know:

1. Suki is one of Google Cloud's first partners to offer a digital clinical assistant, which will require the company to apply its voice technology to develop and improve language models for physician-focused applications.

2. As a partner in the Google Cloud Partner Advantage Program, Suki will have access to Google Cloud's most recent artificial intelligence, machine learning and cloud technology.

3. Suki uses AI and machine learning technologies to help clinicians complete administrative tasks like documentation or information retrieval from an EHR with enhanced accuracy.

4. Since launching in 2018, across its physician base, Suki has reduced the average time spent per note by 76 percent, dropping from 13 minutes to 3 minutes.

"Suki is leveraging the power of Google Cloud to develop a digital assistant that will save [physicians] time and drive value for health systems," said Aashima Gupta, director of global healthcare solutions at Google Cloud, according to the news release. "We look forward to working together to improve the ability of [physicians] to practice medicine and reduce physician burnout."
