Mishawaka, Ind.-based Franciscan Health announced Oct. 31 its partnership with Apple to give patients access to their health data directly on their iPhones.

The health system now supports Apple's Health Records feature, which streamlines patients' health information, including lab results, medications and procedures, into a single application. Apple built its Health Records app based on Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources, a standard for EHR data sharing.

"Franciscan has integrated with the Apple Health Records app on the iPhone to offer patients the next generation of accessibility to their key data in the medical record," said Jonathan Roskam, MD, chief medical information officer at Franciscan Health, according to the news release.

Franciscan Health comprises 12 hospitals and various medical clinics, all of which will have access to Apple Health Records. Franciscan Health patients will also be able to integrate their health information recorded by other participating providers within the app.
