Epic initiates another campus expansion

Jackie Drees -

Epic has moved to expand its Verona, Wis.-based headquarters to make room for an additional 1,200 employees in the next few years, Milwaukee Business News reports.

The EHR giant recently filed a wetland disturbance permit application with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, seeking permission to fill or relocate more than two acres of wetlands. Epic plans to use the land as additional office space to accommodate job growth as it expects to hire up to 1,200 more employees in the coming years, according to the report.

"In the next three to five years we will be completing the Storybook Campus," an Epic spokesperson said in an emailed statement to Becker's. "We continue to plan for future campuses and will begin construction as they are needed."

Epic currently has an estimated 10,000 employees globally, including 8,500 at its 1,000-acre headquarters. Since 2001, the company has built five additional campuses on the site, with buildings to accommodate roughly 350 persons each.

In July 2018, Epic halted office construction on its campus because development efforts "finally caught up to the growth of the company," said Steve Dickman, Epic's chief administration officer, according to Xconomy.
