Epic employees told to expect full campus return by August

Jackie Drees -

Epic plans to bring all its employees back to work at its Verona, Wis.-based campus by the end of August, according to Cap Times.

In a mid-June email sent to Epic employees and signed by company vice president Stirling Martin, the EHR giant detailed its plan to return employees to campus in four stages during July and August. About 3,000 staff are already back working on campus; before the pandemic, more than 9,000 employees worked on campus, according to the June 17 report.

"Over the past couple of months, we have encouraged staff to work from home while we remained open as an essential business," Epic said in a statement to the publication. "Our campus supports physical distancing with over 8,100 well-ventilated offices and large meeting spaces spread across 25 buildings. We continue to support our customers and are slowly resuming essential travel."

In the email sent to staff, employees were given a survey that asked about extenuating circumstances, such as recent exposure to COVID-19 or if they or a family member have any medical conditions. Epic said it would monitor public health announcements and school reopening plans to make any necessary adjustments to its return-to-work timeline, and employee return dates will depend on their respective teams and buildings where they work.

Dane County, where Epic's campus is located, entered Phase 2 of its reopening plan June 15, allowing offices to operate at 50 percent of their capacity, according to the report. Earlier this week, Epic announced the cancellation of its annual User Group Meeting, scheduled for Aug. 24-27. Some elements of the conference will be moved online.
