Epic consultancy Bluetree Network expands

Julie Spitzer -

Bluetree Network, a Madison, Wis.-based Epic consulting firm, is reaping the benefits of Epic's massive healthcare presence, the Wisconsin State Journal reports.

The company, which supports and mentors healthcare organizations using Epic's EHR, is moving to a larger office to fit its growing staff.

Here are eight things to know about the consultancy, as noted by the Wisconsin State Journal:

1. Bluetree, which was founded in 2012 in a small co-working space, is moving to an office with more than 15,000 square feet.

2. The company is owned by its founders and initial investors — it was initially funded with money from friends and family as opposed to outside angel investors or venture capital funds.

3. The firm employs about 150 individuals and contracts with another 150. About half of Bluetree's total workforce are former Epic employees.

4. Bluetree also has offices in New York and Denver. In fact, only about 50 of its full-time employees are stationed in Madison.

5. By the end of 2019, the company expects to employ 450 individuals, with 300 of them full-time and 100 stationed in Madison.

6. Bluetree is also adding a managed services center to help advise healthcare organizations' technology staffs as well as its front-line employees, including physicians, nurses and registration staff.

7. Bluetree expects $55 million in revenue this year.

8. In 2017, Bluetree ranked No. 569 on the Inc. 5000 list, Inc.'s annual ranking of the fastest-growing private companies in the U.S. based on annual revenue and three-year growth.
