Jessica Kim Cohen -

DrChrono — a software company that develops EHR, medical billing and practice management platforms for iPhones and iPads — is now certified for meaningful use Stage 3, the company announced Feb. 7.

Three notes:

1. DrChrono said it is the first EHR company using a native iOS App for iPad and iPhone to be certified for meaningful use Stage 3.

2. Medical practices using the DrChrono EHR platform will now be able to report and attest to federal requirements under Stage 3, the latest stage of meaningful use.

3. DrChrono added various features to its EHR as part of its certification for meaningful use Stage 3, including updating its family medical history and exporting tools. The company also updated its dashboard for the Merit-based Incentive Payment System to help medical practices track their compliance.

"I am proud to announce that we are certified for meaningful use Stage 3 and have met all government requirements," Michael Nusimow, co-founder and CEO of DrChrono, said in a news release. "Our commitment is to ensure our partners, physicians and medical practices are ready for the changes that come with [the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015], MIPS as well as MU Stage 3."
