Cerner revenue grew 6% in 2019: 5 things to know

Jackie Drees -

Cerner posted $5.7 billion in full-year revenue for 2019, up 6 percent from the previous year, according to the Kansas City, Mo.-based EHR vendor's Feb. 4 report.

Five things to know about Cerner's financial performance for the 2019 fourth quarter and full year that ended Dec. 28, 2019:

1. Cerner also reported a 6 percent uptick in fourth quarter revenue for the year at $1.44 billion, compared to $1.37 billion during the same period in 2018.

2. Fourth quarter bookings at $1.67 billion exceeded Cerner's expectations in 2019.

3. Cerner posted $5.9 billion in full-year 2019 bookings, down from $6.7 billion in 2018. Cerner said the decline is the result of the company's selection in the type of contracts to pursue, which led to fewer large, long-term outsourcing agreements, according to the report.

4. The company predicted its first quarter of 2020 revenue to be between $1.42 billion and $1.5 billion.

5. For 2020 full-year revenue, Cerner said it expects to hit between $5.73 billion and $5.98 billion.
