Cerner lists 1 Kansas City campus for sale: 7 things to know

Jackie Drees -

Cerner has officially listed its Kansas City, Kan.-based Continuous Campus on the market amid the EHR company's shift to a hybrid work model, Kansas City Business Journal reported Sept. 29.

Seven things to know:

1. Cerner decided to sell the campus after an evaluation of the company's office space needs, which determined it has enough office space to consolidate employees at its Realizations Campus and Innovations Campus, both in Kansas City, Mo.

2. Cerner listed its Continuous Campus for sale through Colliers International, which is the company's third Cerner listing to date. Cerner's other two listings under Colliers are its Oaks Campus and Riverpoint property, which were put up for sale in February and March, respectively.

3. The Continuous Campus sale will save Cerner an estimated $10 million annually by reducing its office footprint by 15 percent, according to the report.

4. Cerner announced plans in June to adopt a hybrid work model that will let employees choose between working at its headquarters or remotely. The company has delayed its hybrid return-to-office approach until mid-October because of current COVID-19 transmission rates, a Cerner spokesperson told Becker's in September.

5. Cerner is home to about 26,000 global employees, with 13,000 based in the Kansas City area.

6. The company opened its Continuous Campus in August 2013 as part of a $414 million development deal, including the addition of the Sporting KC soccer stadium in the area.

7. The listing for the campus does not include a price, but Wyandotte County, Kan., property records list a $47.2 million appraised value in 2021, according to the report.
