Cerner in the headlines — 12 latest stories

Here are 12 updates on Cerner's operations, software products and partnerships reported by Becker's Hospital Review in February.

1. Columbia, Md.-based MedStar Health became the first health system to join the Cerner Learning Health Network, which aims to make de-identified clinical data more accessible for medical studies.

2. Cerner posted $5.7 billion in full-year revenue for 2019, up 6 percent from the previous year.

3. Cerner is now moving almost all of its non-federal HealtheIntent clients to the Amazon Web Services public cloud during the first half of the year, company executives said during a Feb. 4 earnings call.

4. Cerner formed an agreement to sell a portion of its software products for about $248 million to CompuGroup Medical, a German healthcare software company.

5. Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based AdventHealth and Charlotte, N.C.-based Atrium Health both confirmed they will transition from their respective Cerner EHRs to Epic systems.

6. Cerner CFO Marc Naughton sold 176,000 shares, totaling about $13.9 million, of company stock.

7. Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Healthcare on Feb. 18 announced a multiyear extension of its Cerner agreement. Capital Health, a Trenton, N.J.-based health system, on Feb. 19 announced it will deploy a Cerner EHR across its hospital network.

8. Royal Free Hospital in London identified a technical error associated with updates to its Cerner-based system as the cause of a six-month delay to thousands of patient letters being sent out.

9. Cerner on Feb. 18 named two new C-suite executives, effective immediately: Don Trigg as president and John Peterzalek as chief client and services officer.

10. About a month after withdrawing a bid in January to sell a portion of its campus for retail use, Cerner's plans moving forward with developing the space are unclear.

11. Auditors determined Glens Falls (N.Y.) Hospital's significant losses in 2017 were largely attributable to the rollout of a new Cerner billing system. However, the hospital offered a different explanation to state health regulators.
