Edmonton, Canada-based Alberta Health Services, the single health authority for Alberta, signed a $459 million agreement with Verona, Wis.-based Epic to deploy its EHR system, reports Edmonton Journal.
The Canadian Government will provide $400 million over five years to help support the project, which is expected to cost about $1.6 billion total. According to the contract, Epic will provide installation of software, ongoing support and staff training at all Alberta Health Services facilities.
The full project is expected to take five years, but some of the EHR could be implemented in Edmonton facilities in as soon as two years.
