Allscripts reports 4B API exchanges since 2013

Jessica Kim Cohen -

Allscripts has reached a new milestone, reporting more than 4 billion data shares through its application programming interfaces since the company began counting these exchanges in 2013.

Allscripts' partners and clients use the company's APIs for app deployment and data integration projects. Allscripts has certified more than 175 applications and devices from 8,000-plus developers through its Allscripts Developer Program, which enables third-party app developers to build solutions for the company's app store using the APIs.

"We have made our API platform easily accessible and cost effective for developers to use, so that they can develop and test their solutions," Tina Joros, vice president and general manager of the open business unit at Allscripts, said in a news release. "We are trying to create a new mentality of innovation for our clients, so that they view innovation as a path to improve overall workflows and connect with patients."
