Allscripts posts $8M net loss for Q2: 4 notes

Allscripts reported a net loss of $8 million for the second quarter of 2020, compared to $150 million during the same time last year.

Four notes about the EHR vendor's financial performance for the second quarter of 2020, which ended June 30:

1. Allscripts posted $406 million in revenue for the second quarter of 2020, down 8.7 percent from $445 million during the same time last year.

2. Bookings for the quarter were $188 million, down 32 percent from $276 million during the second quarter of 2019.

3. The company posted $822.9 million in revenue for the first six months of the year, down 6 percent from $876.5 million during the first half of 2020.

4. Allscripts also announced an agreement with Strata Decision Technology, which will allow the software company to acquire Allscripts' analytics and budgeting business Epsi for $365 million.

"Our second quarter results showed resilience as Allscripts and our clients continued to manage through the COVID-19 pandemic," Allscripts CEO Paul Black said in a July 30 news release. "We leveraged both new and existing innovative solutions to support our clients and improve patient outcomes during this challenging time."
