5 Allscripts highlights from 2018: Top headlines from the EHR vendor

Despite a hectic year that kicked off with a ransomware attack, Allscripts closed out 2018 by maintaining a top spot on Black Book's EHR rankings.

Here are five of the most-read stories about Allscripts reported by Becker's Hospital Review this year:

1. Allscripts investigating ransomware incident, some services unavailable to customers

In January, Allscripts investigated a global ransomware attack that affected applications hosted in its data centers in Raleigh and Charlotte, N.C., and shut down its electronic prescribing of controlled substances system.

2. Hackers indicted in SamSam ransomware attacks on Allscripts, hospitals

A grand jury in New Jersey indicted two Iranian hackers in connection with the ransomware campaign that crippled more than 200 organizations, including Allscripts and several hospitals, universities and cities.

3. Lyft, Allscripts partnership aims to make it easier for patients to make medical appointments

Allscripts and ridesharing company Lyft teamed up to help patients find nonemergency transportation to and from their medical appointments.  

4. Allscripts confirms layoffs

Allscripts confirmed staff layoffs in December, which it says were part of a "rebalancing effort."

5. Allscripts ranks as No. 1 in Black Book's survey: Top 10 integrated EHRs

Allscripts ranked as the top integrated EHR, practice management and revenue cycle management platform for health systems and integrated delivery networks, according to a Black Book Market Research survey.
