New York hospital doubles ER size in $2.3M renovation

Megan Knowles -

Gouverneur (N.Y.) Hospital is completing a $2.3 million renovation project that nearly doubles the size of its emergency room, according to a Watertown Daily Times report.

The project expanded the ED from 3,000 square feet to 5,500 square feet and changed the emergency rooms from five rooms closed off by curtains to seven private rooms closed off by doors.

Renovations also include a new triage area, centralized nurses' station, separate waiting room area, new bathroom facilities and upgraded equipment.

Hospital officials expect to start treating patients in the renovated space by mid-December.
