Las Vegas adopts DispatchHealth to reduce ER visits

Las Vegas is now using DispatchHealth, a Denver-based virtual healthcare provider that offers physician house call services, according to a KLAS report.

Patients can access DispatchHealth through a mobile app, website or direct call to report symptoms to board certified providers. The providers then review the patient's symptoms over the phone and send trained medical teams, which can include emergency room physicians, nurse practitioners and medical technicians, to the patient's home.

DispatchHealth can treat low-acuity ailments such as pains, sprains, cuts and fevers.

"We [have] only been operating for a few weeks but we are seeing patients every day and our numbers are starting to get a little more each day and the community seems really excited about it," said Christine Greimann, director of market development at Dispatch Health.

DispatchHealth is currently working with major health insurance companies in Nevada, including Medicare and Medicaid, for the service to be covered.
