Greenwich Hospital teams up with Yale Children's for advanced ER care

Greenwich (Conn.) Hospital is collaborating with pediatric emergency medicine physicians at Yale New Haven (Conn.) Children's Hospital to enhance children's emergency care, according to a Greenwich Sentinel report.

Pediatric visits comprise approximately 25 percent of the 40,000 visits made to Greenwich Hospital's emergency department annually.

Pediatric emergency medicine physicians from Yale Children's will serve Greenwich Hospital from 4 p.m. to 8 a.m., which will cover high pediatric volumes after pediatrician offices close, said Christopher Davison, MD, medical director of Greenwich Hospital's ED.

There will also be a full staff of pediatricians during the day who can be called to the ED when the pediatric emergency medicine physicians are not on site, Dr. Davison added.

Greenwich Hospital includes a waiting room and exam rooms specially designed for pediatric patients and their families. The child-friendly designs were added as part of a multimillion dollar ED renovation Greenwich Hospital completed January of this year.
