Police are investigating the homicide of Kevin Rodgers, MD, professor of emergency medicine and program director emeritus at Indiana University School of Medicine, according to a WXIN report.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a 911 call to Dr. Rodgers' home around noon Monday. Officers said a man was found dead in a home showing signs of trauma. Police confirmed Ruth Rodgers, Dr. Rodgers' wife, discovered him and called 911.

As of Monday night, police have not released how Dr. Rodgers died and if they found signs of a home break-in, according to WISH-TV.

Before joining the IU School of Medicine in 1998, Dr. Rodgers held several positions at Brooke Army Medical Center and was active with the American Academy of Emergency Medicine, where he served as treasurer. In 2002, Dr. Rodgers became a co-program director for the IU emergency medicine residency. He assumed the role of sole program director in 2013.

Since 2000, he helped maintain a staff clinic in Haiti. He was the father of four sons.

"Dr. Rodgers was a well-respected faculty educator who was heavily involved in the Emergency Medicine training program for more than 25 years," the IU School of Medicine said in statement. "The IU School of Medicine community is deeply saddened by this loss."
