Cape Cod firm develops software to track ambulance patients

Megan Knowles -

Coastal Medical Transportation, a Yarmouth, Mass.-based private ambulance company, launched a new software company that aims to provide more efficient patient transportation, according to a Cape Cod Times report.

The technology company, Acuity Link, offers software for healthcare providers and their responding ambulance company. The software allows ambulances to be requested, scheduled and tracked through a cloud-based program that transmits clinical details and other information related to the call.

To reduce wait times, Acuity Link also uses GPS to alert healthcare providers when a transport is responding and arriving, said Alex Theoharidis, CEO of Acuity Link.

"You can literally track a pizza from the oven to your doorstep, but you can't track your loved ones on an ambulance," said Spero Theoharidis, vice president of Acuity Link.

The increased efficiency allows healthcare providers to improve the utilization of beds and improve patient experience, said Michael Pieretti Jr., COO of Acuity Link.
