U of Texas medical, business school partnership offers innovation support to health startups

The University of Texas at Austin announced a collaboration between its McCombs School of Business and Dell Medical School that will advance local healthcare startups' innovation efforts.

Early-stage companies already working within the medical school's innovation hub, Texas Health CoLab, can now apply to join McCombs' Jon Brumley Texas Venture Labs. The accelerator program matches startups with teams of graduate students to help address business problems such as writing business plans, developing marketing strategies and more.

The partnership will be led by local entrepreneur Mellie Price, managing director of the Texas Health CoLab and executive director of commercialization of Dell Medical School's Health Ecosystem. "This partnership reinforces the commitment of both schools to foster an environment supporting creative business solutions within the healthcare industry — something I have been passionate about throughout my career," she said in a statement.
