Capital Rx, a pharmacy benefit manager lowering drug prices by building a marketplace that connects pharmacies and employers, was named on Feb. 6 the "Innovation Champion" of Accenture's HealthTech Innovation Challenge.

The second-place award, "Top Innovator," went to Carrot Health, which uses a database of patients' social, economic, behavioral and environmental data and predictive modeling to help healthcare providers and payers better engage patients and bridge care gaps.

The winners of the challenge were chosen from a finalist pool of 11 digital health startups, announced in December. The awards were presented at the Texas Medical Center Innovation Institute's TMCx accelerator workspace on Feb. 6, according to a news release sent to Becker's Hospital Review.

"The submissions we received this year demonstrate the momentum of discovery and digital innovation in healthcare. Healthcare organizations continue to advance their digital transformation agendas — enhancing access, affordability, quality and experience to drive innovation that improves the lives of consumers and clinicians," Brian Kalis, managing director of digital health and innovation at Accenture, said in the release. "We look forward to working with these companies and others to continue to help advance solutions that address the industry's toughest challenges."
