Boston-based Partners HealthCare Innovation partners with Brigham and Women's Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, McLean Hospital and Spaulding Hospital to help researchers commercialize innovations. In February, Partners HealthCare Innovation launched a staff accelerator program that includes mentorship, development opportunities, workshops and other resources for employees.

The innovation center has another initiative in the works, Innovation Academy, which would offer university-level educational programs for the important functions within Partners HealthCare Innovation.

In 2008, the health system launched the Partners Innovation Fund with an initial commitment of $35 million, which has grown to $171 million. The fund invests in healthcare companies focused on digital health, devices, diagnostics and drugs. Its portfolio includes Health Catalyst, which recently went public.
