The Health Resources and Services Administration awarded $8.1 million to OCHIN, a Portland, Ore.-based nonprofit health innovation center that supports technological initiatives at community health centers nationwide.

The three-year grant will be used to increase digital connections with critical primary care providers for more then 100 health centers across the U.S. Through the funding, OCHIN will be able to access technology that will increase the health centers' access to state immunizations registries, prescription drug monitoring programs and health information exchanges.

OCHIN will also provide technical assistance and training across 14 states through a partnership with Primary Care Associations and other health information and innovation networks including the Oregon Primary Care Association and Heartland Network in Nebraska and Iowa.

Currently, OCHIN serves more than 500 healthcare organizations with more than 10,000 clinicians across the country.
