Northern Kentucky U launches healthcare innovation accelerator

The Institute for Health Innovation at Highland Heights-based Northern Kentucky University has established a mentoring program for early-stage companies designing new products to solve healthcare challenges.

Up to seven startups will be chosen to participate in the first cohort of SoCap Accelerate, slated to begin in May. Throughout the six-week program, participants will receive guidance and support from industry professionals in areas of audience and product development, marketing, legal issue and accounting.

The program is sponsored in part by support from Covington, Ky.-based St. Elizabeth Healthcare and by the $731,250 i6 Challenge grant awarded by the U.S. Economic Development Administration in 2019 to build a Northern Kentucky Health Innovation Initiative.
