Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic partnered with an Israel-based company to develop new voice-based tools for patient screening and monitoring.

Three details:

1. Mayo Clinic partnered with Vocalis, a company focused on artificial intelligence-based vocal biomarkers for use in healthcare, to research and develop new tools. The partners will focus on identifying vocal biomarkers for pulmonary hypertension first.

2. Mayo Clinic and Vocalis previously teamed up on trials to establish the relationship between pulmonary hypertension and vocal characteristics. In the new partnership, announced on Oct. 29, Mayo Clinic will conduct a prospective clinical validation study to further develop the biomarkers.

3. Eventually, the partners aim to identify vocal biomarkers targeting other diseases, symptoms and conditions using the Vocalis software.
