Hartford (Conn.) HealthCare inked a partnership with the Israel Innovation Authority on March 5 that will bring new healthcare technology innovations to the health system and its surrounding areas, the Hartford Courant reports.
The Israel Innovation Authority is a funding organization that supports the development of new products, technologies and companies in the nation, often through international partnerships. The latest collaboration will bring those new startups and technologies to Hartford HealthCare for further testing and development.
The collaboration is expected to bring new jobs and an economic boost to the state of Connecticut, Jeffrey Flaks, the health system's president and CEO, told the Hartford Courant.
"I believe Hartford HealthCare can be a catalyst in creating jobs and bringing in investment from throughout the world," Mr. Flaks said. "Because of the size and scale of our system, we can take whatever technology they have and apply it in real-time delivery of healthcare. … We're comfortable making our sandbox available to them."
Past IIA collaborations with the American healthcare system include partnerships with Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic and Philadelphia-based Jefferson Health.
