Milwaukee-based Froedtert Hospital and the Medical College of Wisconsin announced on Oct. 16 the public launch of the Hope to Health campaign, which aims to raise $225 million to support healthcare innovation efforts, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Campaign funding will be used to "drive breakthroughs and innovations" in areas including cancer research, patient care and healthcare education, John Raymond, MD, president and CEO of the Medical College of Wisconsin, told the Journal Sentinel. Cathy Jacobson, president and CEO of Froedtert Health, added, "The funds raised through the Hope to Health campaign will allow us to continue to further our vision and to bring both hope and health to as many people as possible in our region, state and beyond."

Private fundraising for the campaign began in 2015, resulting in a total of $209.5 million from 20,000 donors; nearly 40 of those donors reportedly contributed at least $1 million. Among the most sizable donations are $37.9 million to transform medical education from the Robert D. and Patricia E. Kern Trust and Kern Family Foundation, and $6.5 million to advance genomic research and precision medicine from the Linda T. and John A. Mellowes Endowed Innovation and Discovery Fund.
