AdvaMed launches Center for Digital Health

Andrea Park -

The Washington, D.C.-based Advanced Medical Technology Association, a trade association and lobbying group, established on Oct. 14 its Center for Digital Health to advance tech- and data-driven care delivery.

The "advocacy platform" will partner with medical and digital technology companies to accelerate the development and deployment of digital healthcare solutions that improve outcomes, delivery efficiency and care quality.

Within the center, member companies will be able to collaborate with one another, address challenges and opportunities in digital health, join AdvaMed in advocating for public policy changes and engage with other stakeholders and policymakers in the industry. The center's members already include Apple, 23andMe, Bayer, IBM, Medtronic, Microsoft, Verily and more.

"Digital technologies and data-enabled insights and interventions are fundamentally changing how patient care is delivered," Andy Fish, AdvaMed's chief strategy officer, said in a statement. "We're still in new territory and there are barriers to overcome on the way to a future in which the promise of digital health is fully realized. Our new center is focused on ensuring that regulatory, payment and delivery system reforms will accelerate and expand access to innovative digital health technologies and solutions."
