The health data patients are most interested in tracking from wearable devices

Patients are most interested in using wearable devices to share their cardiovascular and sleep data with providers and insurers, according to a recent Forrester Research report.

For the report, Forrester Research surveyed 4,851 U.S. adults about their opinions on wearable devices in healthcare. When asked about their willingness to share data acquired by a wearable device, 60 percent of participants said they would with their providers while 48 percent said they would with their insurers.

Here are the types of health data that patients with zero chronic conditions said they are most interested in tracking with a wearable device:

  • Sleep patterns: 48 percent
  • Medication usage: 27 percent
  • Heart rate: 50 percent
  • Blood pressure: 45 percent
  • Blood sugar levels: 36 percent
  • Fitness-related activity: 58 percent

Here are the types of health data that patients with two or more chronic conditions said they are most interested in tracking with a wearable device:

  • Sleep patterns: 58 percent
  • Medication usage: 38 percent
  • Heart rate: 58 percent
  • Blood pressure: 61 percent
  • Blood sugar levels: 46 percent
  • Fitness-related activity: 63 percent
