Piedmont Columbus Regional rolls out mobile wayfinding app

Piedmont (Ga.) Columbus Regional, part of Atlanta-based Piedmont Healthcare, now offers patients and guests access to its mobile wayfinding platform for hospital navigation.

The Piedmont Now application provides mobile users with step-by-step directions to any destination within the hospital as well as Piedmont pharmacies, urgent care locations or physicians' offices, according to a Feb. 19 news released emailed to Becker's Hospital Review.

Piedmont partnered with Gozio Health to develop the app, which also offers online scheduling for appointments and access to provider information, among other capabilities.

"With a large percentage of people relying on smartphones for location-based information and directions, it's important for hospitals to have a mobile strategy that includes wayfinding to improve the overall patient experience," said Katie Logan, chief consumer officer at Piedmont Healthcare, according to the news release.

Since rolling out the Piedmont Now app at the health system's Atlanta-based facilities in 2017, more than 50 percent of app users have tapped into its navigation features.

Piedmont Columbus Regional comprises two hospital campuses, the 583-bed Midtown Campus hospital and the 100-bed Northside Campus hospital.
