The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated digital transformation for health systems, and many of them are beefing up their IT and cybersecurity teams.

Six details:

  1. Cleveland Clinic has 78 IT- and cybersecurity-related job openings at its hospitals, ranging from senior cybersecurity specialists to IT project managers. The health system's main campus is looking for a lead systems analyst for quality and patient safety.

  2. Cleveland Clinic is one of three health systems backing an innovation district. Under an agreement with Ohio officials, the system must hire 1,000 employees over seven years. The system is also developing IT tools to use in patient care. For example, researchers from Cleveland Clinic developed a machine learning tool that predicts whether cancer immunotherapy drugs will be effective for patients.

  3. Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic has 116 IT job listings on its website for positions across its campuses, including positions in senior IT analyst programmer and senior data analyst positions posted Nov. 15.

  4. Mayo Clinic recently partnered with Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente to launch the Advanced Care at Home Coalition, alongside partner Medically Home Group, a Boston-based tech services company that powers hospital-at-home programs.

  5. New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health has 112 job openings posted on its website under IT and services roles. The health system is looking for senior IT project managers, data engineers and information security specialists.

  6. In October, Northwell Health and startup studio Aegis Ventures formed a joint venture to launch artificial intelligence companies that address healthcare equity, costs and quality. The system will partner tech entrepreneurs and its workforce to test each AI solution within its 23 hospitals to enhance data integrity and privacy.
