Apple releases digital health strategy

Apple has released its first-ever report outlining its digital health strategy since the company created a function for users to store their medical records on Apple products eight years ago.

Apple customers can store 150 different types of medical information on their Apple products, according to the July 20 report. The report focused on the privacy of this personal information. According to the report, the medical data stored on Apple products is encrypted, so only users can access it.

The report also detailed Apple's health strategy for the Apple Watch. The Apple Watch contains sensors that can detect a hard fall or heart irregularities. Apple is looking to expand this technology and use the Apple Watch to promote healthy lifestyles.

The report was fronted by Apple's chief operating officer, Jeff Williams. Mr. Williams said, "Our vision for the future is to create science-based technology that equips people with even more information and acts as an intelligent guardian for their health."
