Provider Data Action Alliance releases road map for trustworthy provider data

Jessica Kim Cohen -

The Provider Data Action Alliance, a healthcare collaboration that launched in June 2017, released a road map on May 30 to address issues related to inaccurate provider data.

CAQH, a nonprofit alliance focused on healthcare business, established the Provider Data Action Alliance to develop strategies to improve accuracy and timeliness of provider data, which plays a role in various healthcare processes — including medical claims and provider directories.

The recommendations outlined in "An Industry Roadmap for Provider Data" focus on how healthcare leaders can collaborate to create a sustainable system for accurate provider data, including a three-phase implementation plan and five overarching recommendations.

Members of the Provider Data Action Alliance — comprising representatives from government, health information exchanges, health plans, health systems and provider organizations — developed the road map during a nine-month period.

A few notable members of the collaboration include ONC IT Specialist Daniel Chaput, CMS Division Director Richard Gilbert and Irving, Texas-based Christus Health Technology Advocacy Hank Fanberg.
