White House cybersecurity coordinator warns against Kaspersky products

Julie Spitzer -

Rob Joyce, the Trump administration's cybersecurity coordinator, Kaspersky Lab software on CBS News Tuesday.

The Moscow, Russia-based cybersecurity firm, which has locations across the globe, was accused in July of having ties to Russian intelligence. However, U.S. officials have not released any evidence of the alleged connection.

The federal government has already banned its employees from using software from the company. When asked whether he would advise his family to use the company's anti-virus software, Mr. Joyce said he would not.

"I worry that as a nation-state, Russia really hasn't done the right things for this country and they have a lot of control and latitude over the information that goes to companies in Russia," he said, according to CBS News. "So I worry about that."
