In the ever-volatile world of cryptocurrencies, digital coins like bitcoin or ether gain and lose value in the blink of an eye.

In the past week, bitcoin hit a low of $9,735 March 7 and a high of $11,650 March 5. The total market value for all cryptocurrencies is currently $394 billion, down from $507.9 billion two weeks prior.

Here is how five cryptocurrencies stack up as of March 7, presented in order of market capitalization. Data was gathered from CoinMarketCap.

1. Bitcoin

  • Market capitalization of $18 billion
  • Value on March 7: $1.059.48
  • Change in 24 hours: down 12.12 percent

5. Litecoin

  • Market capitalization of $10 billion

  • Change in 24 hours: down 9.66 percent
