Spectrum Health is the 3rd provider affected in Wolverine vendor cyberattack

St. Joseph, Mich.-based Spectrum Health Lakeland is the latest healthcare provider who was affected by a vendor data breach that touched thousands of patients across the state, according to The Herald-Palladium.

The health system has alerted 60,000 patients about a security incident that happened in September with mailing vendor Wolverine Solutions Group. Lakeland was alerted of the issue Dec. 17.

A ransomware attack within Wolverine Solutions Group may have exposed customers' names, addresses, dates of birth, member identification numbers, healthcare provider names, patient identification numbers and claims information. A limited number of Social Security numbers may also be affected.

Health Alliance Plan and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan had to alert 270,000 total members about the Wolverine Solutions Group vendor breach.

Lakeland and Wolverine Solutions Group are conducting separate investigations into the cybersecurity incident.
