New York woman steals 3 patients' identities to pay for 'Brazilian butt lift'

Julie Spitzer -

A former employee at Deer Park (N.Y.) PTDC, a physical therapy office, has been accused of stealing patients' identities to help pay for cosmetic surgery, reports CBS New York.

Andrea Echevarria, 33, allegedly stole information from three of Deer Park PTDC's elderly patients while she was employed there. Ms. Echevarria reportedly used that information to open three lines of credit that would pay for a $15,000 "Brazilian butt lift" at Huntington, N.Y.-based Romanelli Cosmetic Surgery.

"She had the surgery done in her name, but opened three different lines of credit under three elderly victims whose identities she stole from her former employer," Assistant Deputy Suffolk County Police Commissioner Justin Meyers told CBS New York.

Ms. Echevarria faces two counts of identity theft in the first degree and one count in the second degree. According to prosecutors, she was on parole with an extensive record of identity theft, reports CBS New York.
