HITRUST, a security standards development and accreditation organization, launched the RightStart Program on Oct. 9 to help startups adopt privacy and security measures.
The RightStart Program offers startups a risk management tool and helps new businesses adopt HITRUST's privacy and security services, such as the HITRUST CSF, a comprehensive security framework comprising information protection standards from multiple industries. The framework incorporates control requirements to help organizations demonstrate compliance with more than 30 healthcare regulations, including HIPAA.
"Navigating risk management and compliance requirements can be costly, a strain on internal resources and can be daunting for any company, but it can be compounded in startups that are focusing on bringing their vision to market," Mike Parisi, vice president of assurance strategy and community development at HITRUST, explained in a news release.
HITRUST developed the RightStart Program for startups that have been in business for less than three years, have fewer than 50 employees and report less than $10 million in annual revenue.
