The healthcare industry ranks eighth in data security performance compared to 18 other major industries, according to a report from SecurityScorecard.
SecurityScorecard is a information security vendor that provides its customers with ratings on their security posture by assessing potential vulnerabilities. For its 2019 healthcare report, the vendor reviewed data on more than 26,000 companies across 18 industries from September 2018 to January 2019 to determine which fields were most vulnerable to data security incidents.

However, healthcare did not rank within the top three slots for any of the 10 data security performance categories assessed in the report, coming in fifth in network security, eighth in application security and 12th in endpoint security.
