A Rangely, Colo.-based hospital revealed it took six months to recover from a ransomware attack earlier this year.

On Dec. 15, Rangely District Hospital posted an update about a ransomware attack that occurred on April 9. The hospital's computer system and software files needed to view EHR were affected by the attack. Medical records entered into the hospital's Meditech database between August 2012 and August 2017 were unavailable for about six months.

Rangely worked with Meditech to restore the files, which became accessible again in September.
