Children’s Hospital Colorado on July 11 discovered a team member’s email account may have been accessed by an unauthorized party. Upon learning of the potential breach, hospital officials secured the affected email account and commenced an investigation, including hiring an outside forensics firm.
There is no evidence information in the email account was accessed or misused, according to hospital officials. However, after a review of the email account, officials determined some of the emails included patient names, addresses, dates of birth, telephone numbers and limited clinical information.
Children’s Hospital Colorado established a dedicated call center to answer questions about the privacy incident, which patients will have access to beginning Sept. 11.
