American Medical Technologies data security incident exposes 47,767 individuals' info

Irvine, Calif.-based American Medical Technologies reported a data security incident that affected thousands of individuals' information.

The company, which delivers comprehensive senior-care programs, discovered suspicious activity within an employee email account on Dec. 17, 2019. The company worked with a third-party forensic firm to conduct an investigation into the incident and learned on May 14, 2020, that personal identification information may have been available to the attacker.

The company has not received reports that the personal information was misused, however the incident affected 47,767 individuals' information. The exposed information may have included Social Security numbers, medical record numbers, diagnosis information, names, driver's license numbers and health insurance policy information.
