Female CEOs at the 100 largest U.S. companies outpaced their male counterparts in terms of average total compensation in 2016, according to a recent report by Equilar.
The nine female CEOs listed were originally cited among the research firm's annual Equilar 100, a list of CEO pay packages at the 100 largest U.S. companies.
An analysis of the data revealed the top nine female CEOs received an average total compensation of $23.1 million in 2016, compared to their male counterparts who received an average total compensation of $16 million.
Female CEOs' average total compensation in 2016 also increased from the previous year's average total compensation of $22.7 million, according to the report.
