OhioHealth to raise minimum wage to $15

Columbus-based OhioHealth will raise its minimum wage to $15 an hour in November, reports The Columbus Dispatch.

The change will increase overall annual pay for more than 9,600 employees systemwide.

At present, more than 4,200 OhioHealth employees receive less than $15 an hour. The remaining 5,400 employees make just over $15 and will receive a raise to reflect the changing pay scale, according to Johnni Beckel, chief human resources officer of OhioHealth. The raises will affect positions such as cleaning staff, patient escorts and nursing assistants, all of which have high turnover.

The health system has gradually increased the minimum wage over three years, offering $11 an hour in 2016 before boosting it to $12 an hour in 2018.
