Highmark Health executives see pay cuts after failing to meet performance goals

Leo Vartorella -

Many executives at Pittsburgh-based Highmark Health saw pay decreases in the 2015-2016 fiscal year after they failed to meet performance goals, according to TribLive.com.

David Holmberg, president and CEO of Highmark, earned $2.62 million in 2015, over $1 million less than the year before. Thomas VanKirk, Highmark's secretary, made about $967,000, which represents a $880,000 cut from the previous year.  Highmark CFO Karen Hanlon, earned $1.1 million, nearly $300,000 less than the previous year.

"In general, from 2015 to 2016, incentive-based compensation declined because the organization did not meet all of the objectives of the incentive plans," Lynn Seay, a Highmark spokeswoman, told TribLive.com.
