Healthcare Board Compensation Increases 13.3%

A BDO USA analysis found healthcare board compensation increased 13.3 percent from 2009-2010, according to a BDO news release.

The report, "The BDO 600: 2011 Survey of Board Compensation Practices of 600 Mid-Market Public Companies," showed healthcare director pay was $121,743 in 2009 and $137,601 in 2010. This 13.3 percent increase is significantly higher than other industries surveyed; the second highest percent increase was in the energy industry at 5.9 percent.

Directors at larger healthcare companies received the highest annual compensation overall at $205,576. The report suggests this level of compensation can be partly attributed to the increased complexity of the healthcare industry.
