Dallas County Commissioners: No Raises for Parkland Memorial Management

Dallas County commissioners sent a clear message to the board of directors at Dallas-based Parkland Memorial Hospital: There will be no raises or bonuses for top executives, according to a WFAA report.

County commissioners only approve Parkland Memorial's budget and tax rate and do not make decisions on executive pay. However, the hospital's recent run-ins with the federal government, in which it nearly lost Medicare and Medicaid funding after it failed patient safety and emergency care inspections, prompted some members to reiterate that bonuses for management are "totally unacceptable," the report said.

Parkland Memorial doled out $3.8 million in incentive bonuses to 160 executives and managers last year. The board is currently considering passing a 2 percent pay increase for rank-and-file hospital workers.
