The median salary for women working full-time in the U.S. is approximately 80 percent of that for men, meaning a number of women "work for free" for a portion of the year, according to an analysis published in the Washington Post.
Data journalist Xaquín G.V. combined data from the U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics to calculate the gender wage gap by occupation, education, experience and geography.
