Top 5 US cities with the most air pollution-caused deaths, ED visits

The American Thoracic Society and the Marron Institute of Urban Management at New YorkUniversity released a study ranking cities in the U.S. with the highest number of annual deaths and emergency department visits caused by air pollution.  

The top five cities with the highest annual air pollution-related deaths include:

1. Los Angeles: 1,341

2. Riverside, Calif.: 808

3. Pittsburgh: 285

4. Phoenix: 283

5. New York: 282

The top five cities with the highest annual air pollution-related ED visits include:

1. Los Angeles: 3,255

2. Riverside, Calif.: 1,416

3. New York: 977

4. Fresno, Calif.: 672

5. Houston: 661
